Automating the Boring Stuff with Python and RPA

How I've been using Python and automation tools to eliminate repetitive tasks and focus on what matters.

automationpythonrpa

Every company has them: those tedious, repetitive tasks that eat up hours of human time. Copying data between systems, generating reports, sending follow-up emails.

The real cost of manual work

It's not just about time. Manual processes introduce errors, create bottlenecks, and drain creativity from your team. I've seen companies with 5 people doing work that could be handled by 1 person + good automation.

My automation stack

After years of experimentation, here's what I've settled on:

  • Python for anything involving data
  • Automation Anywhere for enterprise-grade bots
  • n8n for quick workflow automation
  • Custom scripts when flexibility matters most

A real example

Last month, I automated a process that took 3 hours daily:

  1. Download reports from 5 different systems
  2. Consolidate into a single spreadsheet
  3. Apply business rules to flag exceptions
  4. Send personalized emails to stakeholders

Now it runs at 6 AM every day. Zero human intervention.

The best automation is invisible. It just works, and people forget it ever needed a human.
